A Wild Stitch
This year’s theme, “A Wild Stitch,” reflects the beautiful chaos and complexity of the modern world. Through bold visuals and brave ideas, artists will tackle big questions about identity, change, resilience, and what it means to belong in today’s fast-moving world. Get ready for a colourful mix of perspectives, emotions, and surprises.

More Than Just Art On Four Walls
Beyond the four walls of an exhibition room, Alserkal Art Week is here to bring you a full-on experience. The programme includes interactive workshops, film screenings, and open studio visits where you can see artists at work. It’s the perfect chance to get hands-on and explore different sides of the creative world. let’s take a look at what you can expect this week:
Explore Over 15 New Exhibitions
Alserkal Avenue will come alive with more than 15 brand-new gallery shows, all within walking distance. You’ll see fresh work from artists across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, exploring themes like displacement, heritage, and cultural identity. Keep an eye out for exhibits by Efie Gallery, presenting Cuban artist Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, who reflects on migration through her deeply personal art, and Zawyeh Gallery, showcasing the latest pieces by British-Palestinian artist Bashir Makhoul.

Spotlight On: Imran Qureshi at Concrete
One of the must-see highlights of the week is the stunning exhibition by Pakistani artist Imran Qureshi, held at Concrete and curated by Nada Raza. Blending video, photography, painting, and immersive installation, Qureshi draws on the architectural beauty of traditional Mughal and Sikh styles while mixing in a modern edge. His work brings the layered stories of South Asian cities to life, and it’s guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.
Public Art That Stops You In Your Tracks
At Alserkal, art is spilling out into the streets, too. This year features new public installations inspired by Emirati poet Nujoom Alghanem’s poem “Between a Beach and a Slope.” You’ll find a striking light sculpture by Indian artist Shilpa Gupta and an immersive performance-installation by Héctor Zamora, titled “Existence-emitting Movements,” where performers interact with objects in motion. It’s art that moves – literally and emotionally.

Big Talks & Bold Ideas: Majlis Talks
If you’re craving deeper conversations, make time for Majlis Talks – a series of artist-led discussions curated by Stephanie Bailey. These sessions will explore how today’s art scene is evolving across the UAE and beyond, with honest conversations about the challenges and opportunities artists face. Expect a few heated debates, thought-provoking questions, and plenty of inspiration.
Need A Break? Refuel In Style
When you need a breather between gallery visits, there are plenty of cosy cafés around Alserkal Avenue. Grab a specialty brew at Nightjar Coffee Roasters, pick up something sweet from Bkry, sip on a matcha from Dopa, or enjoy a meal at LILA Molino. It’s the perfect blend of art and chill.
