The Sharjah-based House of Wisdom (HoW) library has debuted its first-ever outdoor pop-up marketplace, dubbed ‘Ramadaniyat,’ which will be open until April 24. The marketplace, which is open daily from 8:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., is free to enter and offers shopping, arts, and food. The marketplace is located between the main building and The Scroll Monument in the outdoor space.

Visitors can look at the 20 vendor booths, where a variety of local entrepreneurs and SMEs are displaying clothing and accessories pieces by locally made individual boutique stores and designers. Customers can take home everything from contemporary and traditional abayas, jalabiyas, and kaftans to jewellery, perfume, and children’s wear. Three pop-up restaurant outlets are also available in the outdoor area. Opposite the Scroll along the water, there is a shining mirror installation.

The event includes the ‘Little Reader’s Ramadaniyat,’ which allows parents to enrol their children on a workshop space and shopping area in HoW’s Little Reader children’s section from 5 pm to 12 midnight, while parents can keep going with their shopping experience.
The section is hosting a STEM, wellbeing, music, literature, art, and identity programme based on an international framework. DIY kits containing craft tools, toys, and Ramadan-related items will be available for purchase as part of the workshop series, which participants can purchase and work on with the assistance of trained facilitators.
