Your Drive Through Bur Dubai Will Now Only Take 12 Minutes As The Al Shindagha Corridor Completes

If there is one area people in Dubai will avoid driving towards during peak hours (except for the ones who actually love there (and even sometimes them too)) the crown has to go to Bur Dubai. I mean if you’ve ever been stuck in traffic there, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. But luckily for us, so does RTA which is why – in true Dubai fashion – they did something about it. RTA has officially completed all five phases of the Al Shindagha Corridor project on the Bur Dubai side! But wait, what does that actually mean? I means, driving down that area is going to be a total game changer now, with commutes jumping down from 80 to just 12 minutes! Sounds a little too good to be true, but just keep reading and you’ll find all the details you want to know,

All 5 Bridges Up And Running

The highlight of the project is a newly opened bridge located at the busy intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street. This 5th and final bridge officially completes the Bur Dubai side of the development and links together several key routes to ease traffic flow! This has been a long time coming for the residents and daily commuters of that area. Drivers can now finally move freely from Al Garhoud Bridge, over the Infinity Bridge, past Port Rashid, and all the way to the Waterfront Market. And do all of that with zero interruptions! Even short trips in the area are now lightning-fast:

  • Jumeirah Street to Infinity Bridge? Only 5 minutes.
  • Infinity Bridge to Al Wasl Road via Al Mina Street? Also 5 minutes!

Big Plans Still In Motion

While the Bur Dubai phase may be complete, the RTA isn’t slowing down. Construction is moving ahead on the Al Khaleej Street Tunnel, next. This upgrade which will stretch from the end of the Infinity Bridge ramp in Deira to Cairo Street. Once it’s finished, the tunnel will be another big step in cutting down congestion and improving travel times.

Why This Corridor Is Much Needed For The People Of Dubai

The Al Shindagha Corridor improvement project isn’t some run-of-the-mill road upgrade. It’s a full blown infrastructure milestone for the city. The upgraded corridor connects and supports a huge part of the city. Areas like Deira, Bur Dubai, Dubai Islands, Dubai Maritime City, Dubai Waterfront, and Port Rashid are all directly linked through this route. More importantly, it’s built to handle the everyday lives of around one million people. Let me put this number into better perspective for you. This corridor with help the daily lives of 1/3 of the cities entire population!

With all phases on the Bur Dubai side now complete, this project is already making a big difference!
