RTA has just teamed up with Dubai Holding for a game-changing AED 6 billion project to make getting around town much easier. What Areas Of Dubai Are Changing?
The project will focus on several key locations across Dubai, improving access to both residential and commercial areas. Some of the most significant developments include:
- Business Bay – Upgraded intersections and a pedestrian bridge will improve accessibility and cut travel time by 30%.
- Dubai Production City – New bridges connecting the area to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road will reduce travel time by 50%.
- International City (Phase 3) – Road expansions, an extra lane at the main entrance, and upgraded intersections will reduce travel time from 15 minutes to just 5 minutes.
- Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) – Four new access points will be added, doubling the entry and exit capacity and cutting internal travel time by a whopping 70%.
- Palm Jumeirah – Additional acceleration and deceleration lanes will ensure better traffic movement, while two new pedestrian bridges will reduce travel time by 40%.

But Will It Make A Real Difference On The Road?
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA, emphasised that these improvements will significantly increase road capacity, shorten travel times, and improve connectivity for both residents and visitors. Dubai’s rapid growth means more cars on the road, which can lead to congestion. This massive infrastructure boost is designed to support the city’s expansion, making everyday commutes smoother and safer.
