But here we are. This August, Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) has pulled an absolute masterstroke: the DSS 10 Dirham Dish in Dubai. And it’s not just your regular cafes and takeaway joints that’s serving 10 AED food in Dubai. Oh no. We’re talking more than 190 restaurants across the UAE, in over 700 locations. Including actual five-star hotels and the city’s trendiest beach clubs. Even places where the menus usually start at “slightly alarming” prices. The deal? From August 1 to 31, you can waltz into one of these participating spots – no booking, no voucher, no whispering to the waiter – and order a dish for just AED 10. That’s less than the price of a coffee, or less than a bottle of fancy mineral water in certain establishments.

Barasti Beach
DSS 10 Dirham Dish – Barasti Fish & Chips
If you’ve ever been to Barasti Beach Bar, you’ll know it’s the OG beach hangout. It’s where sun-seekers, partygoers, and “I’m-just-here-for-the-view” types all merge into one gloriously sandy melting pot. Now, normally if you scan their menu for something under AED 50, the only contender is a humble fruit platter. But this DSS, fish and chips has made a surprise cameo in the AED 10 category. Imagine this: crispy, golden-battered fish with chips that are fluffy inside, crunchy outside, eaten while the sea shimmers in the background and the DJ spins something mellow. Yes, it’s August and yes, the air is basically soup, but with a cold drink and a bit of shade, it’s still one of Dubai’s best beach moments. Also, the entry to Barasti Beach is free all summer, so what are you waiting for? Go, grab this AED 10 dish!

El Sur is a Spanish gem at The Westin Mina Seyahi, known for its gorgeous mains, lively music, and a view that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a Barcelona postcard. Normally, dinner for two here costs around AED 350, so finding anything for AED 10 is like spotting a unicorn on JBR. But this August, you can get their Calamari Sandwich: crispy squid tucked into a crusty roll, slathered with garlicky aioli, and bursting with bold Spanish flavours.
Pro tip: Add their ice cream (AED 15) and for AED 25, you’ve got yourself a main and dessert at a spot where the bill normally requires a deep breath before opening.

Veggie friends, you are not being left behind in this AED 10 dishes fest. At the Yasmine Lounge inside Swissotel Al Ghurair, a five-star hotel, might I add, you can grab a Cajun Vegetable Wrap for AED 10. Picture this: spiced vegetables, fresh tomato salsa, crunchy lettuce, all rolled up in a soft tortilla for a zesty, satisfying bite. And yes, I too am still trying to process this! The very fact that I can walk into a luxury hotel and pay less than my usual roadside wrap. That’s DSS magic for you.

Bla Bla Beach Club, JBR
DSS 10 Dirham Dish – Brisket Sandwich
The social media-famous Bla Bla is half beach club and half “oh my gosh, I could live here.” With 21 bars, an upscale restaurant, live DJs, and that perfect JBR location, it’s the kind of place you usually dress up and budget for. Now, let’s talk about their AED 10 dish that’s on offer. Their Brisket Sandwich is the kind of thing you normally drop AED 70 on without blinking. Think tender Angus brisket, smoky BBQ sauce, and tangy pickled cucumber, all in a soft bun. This August, you can get it for AED 10, which frankly feels like daylight robbery.

This DSS, you can get their Hot Fudge Brownie for AED 10: warm brownie, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and a cherry on top. It’s dramatic, decadent, and quite possibly the best AED 10 you’ll spend on a dish all month.

If you’ve been keeping tabs on Dubai’s dessert scene, you’ll know Ren at Movenpick is famous for its tres leches. But this time, it’s Slice, its sibling spot at Grand Plaza Movenpick, stealing the show with a scoop of ice cream for AED 10. Choose from Swiss chocolate, pistachio, or strawberry – all luxuriously creamy and perfect for surviving Dubai’s sauna-like summer.

By day, it’s all poolside lounging, sunshine, and snacks; by night, it slips into shisha, big-screen sports, and a party vibe that feels like you accidentally walked into a holiday.
