If you’ve ever been frustrated by slow-moving trucks clogging up busy roads, this news will feel like a breath of fresh air! Next week, starting Monday, January 27th, Abu Dhabi will introduce new traffic rules designed to ease congestion and improve safety. The new restrictions target heavy vehicles like trucks and tankers, banning them from using roads during peak traffic hours. Come with me, and I’ll give you all the important details you need to know.
When & Where The Rules Apply
The restrictions will apply during the busiest times of the day, making your commute smoother and faster. Here’s the schedule:
- Monday to Thursday:
- Morning: 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM
- Evening: 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Friday:
- Morning: 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM
- Midday: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

What These Changes Mean For You?
During these hours, heavy vehicles will be off the roads, ensuring that regular traffic flows more smoothly. This change made by Abu Dhabi Mobility (formerly the Integrated Transport Centre) aims to reduce accidents, improve driving conditions, and minimise the strain on the city’s roads. And it’s not just Abu Dhabi. Similar measures are being implemented in other emirates, as road freight remains a significant contributor to congestion across the UAE.
With these new regulations in place, your daily commute in Abu Dhabi might just become a lot less stressful!
