Get ready to celebrate, because Global Village is going all out for Diwali. From November 6 to 10, you can enjoy a 600-drone light show, a musical baithak and a lively Diwali mela. The best part? It’s all included in your regular entry ticket. Keep reading for all the brilliant details you need to know!
Come Sing Along At The First-Ever Baithak
The celebrations kick off with something Global Village has never done before: a baithak. If you haven’t been to one, it’s a traditional South Asian musical gathering. Instead of watching from far away, the audience sits close to the performers and is invited to sing along, so it feels more like a get-together than a concert.
The baithak takes place on the Main Stage On, Friday, November 6, from 8pm to 9pm, in collaboration with City FM. It’s also Dhanteras, the first day of Diwali, which makes it a lovely way to start the festival.
Games, Prizes & A Bit of Friendly Competition
Day two, Saturday, November 7, keeps the energy up with interactive games and prizes for visitors. Whether you’re coming with family, friends or a group of cousins who take games a little too seriously, it’s a fun way to spend the evening in the middle of the festival.
The Night 600 Drones Light Up The Sky
This is the main event. At 8pm on Diwali night (Sunday, November 8), 600 drones will take off and light up the sky in a Diwali-themed show, forming shapes inspired by the Festival of Lights. For a festival all about light, it’s a pretty fitting finale.
To get the best view, head to the area above the Stunt Arena and the Syria Pavilion. It’s worth arriving a little early to find a good spot.
The Diwali Mela: Shop, Browse & Treat Yourself
For all five days, a Diwali Mela is set up at the Commercial Activation area, organised with the India Pavilion. It’s the place to pick up Diwali decorations, gifts, traditional snacks and sweets, whether you’re stocking up for home or just wandering and sampling.
The park itself gets into the festive mood too. Decorative lamp posts will line World Avenue, and “Happy Diwali” signboards will be placed around the park, so there are plenty of spots for photos.
Something for the Little Ones
Bringing the kids? The Kids Corner will be running Diwali activities including face painting, diya colouring and rangoli making. It’s a hands-on way for children to join in the festival, and they get to take part in some of its best-loved traditions.
Planning Your Visit
The park is open from 4pm to midnight, Sunday to Wednesday, and from 4pm to 1am, Thursday to Saturday. Since Diwali night falls on a Sunday, the park closes at midnight, right after the drone show, so plan your evening so you don’t miss it.
And with the end of the year coming up, don’t miss out of the wonderful festive season ahead. Visit Global Village’s Official website and get your tickets now!
