For once, the people who spend their days rushing to meet everyone else’s deadlines had nowhere to be. On Tuesday, 8 September, hundreds of Talabat riders traded delivery routes for a day of sport, sun protection and recognition at Danube Sports Club. Courtesy of Bioderma, NAOS’s dermo-cosmetics brand, and the event’s official skincare partner. I have all the incredible details you need to know, so keep reading to find out more.
A Day Built Just For Them
From 8 AM until 5 PM, the club buzzed with sports and activities designed to let riders do something they rarely get to do on the job. Compete, laugh and just enjoy themselves. The energy built steadily through the afternoon before things got serious with the semi-finals and finals at 5 PM. Leading into an awards ceremony and closing from 6:45 to 7:30 PM. It was a full day, deliberately so. Because for riders who are usually clocking hours on the road, a schedule built entirely around their wellbeing was the whole point.
More Than A Booth
Tucked into the day’s activities was the Bioderma Photoderm XDefense activation. Where riders could stop by for a skin analysis, pick up products, and enter games and raffles between matches. But the real heart of the activation was the “We Care & Protect” stage session. A 10 to 15 minute moment where a dermatologist spoke directly to riders about something most of them had probably never had explained to them properly. What constant sun exposure actually does to skin, and how to protect it.
As one of the NAOS team put it on the day, the philosophy behind it all was simple. “Our philosophy is always beyond skincare. It’s about caring for the people. This is why we are here today supporting Talabat drivers, and we are super proud of it.” Another member of the organising team echoed the same sentiment. Describing riders as people who keep Dubai running without much of the city ever stopping to notice. “Behind every helmet there is a human being working lengthy hours no matter the conditions – under the sun, in the heat, even during global pandemics. These people keep the city moving. They keep our lives easier.”

Behind Every Helmet, A Person
If there was one idea that ran through the entire day, it was this. The people delivering everyone’s orders are so much more than the helmets they wear. As Sharaf, one of the event’s organisers, explained, that recognition was exactly what the day set out to give. “They are not just helmets roaming around the city to try to connect people with their needs, but they are human beings. They are fathers. They are sons. They are brothers, and they matter to us.”
It’s a small shift in perspective, but on a day built around skin health and sun protection, it reframed the entire event. Not as a brand activation, but as a genuine thank you to the people so many of us rely on without ever really seeing.
Closing The Day With Recognition
By the time the finals wrapped up and the awards ceremony began, the sports had done their job of bringing Talabat riders together, but the message behind the day stayed front and centre. NAOS summed up exactly what they hoped riders would walk away feeling. “At NAOS, we believe in going from skincare to human care. Through our partnership with Talabat, we wanted to bring our expertise closer to them. While also creating a moment of appreciation, wellbeing, and connection.”
For one day, at least, the riders who spend their working hours taking care of everyone else’s needs got to have someone take care of theirs.
