Losing your Emirates ID can feel like a mini disaster. It can be worrisome, especially when it’s your go-to document for almost everything in the UAE. Don’t panic, because replacing it is much easier than you might think. Whether your card has been lost, stolen or damaged, you can complete most of the process online in just a few minutes! How? First Things First, Report The Incident
Before applying for a replacement, you’ll need to report the incident so your existing Emirates ID can be deactivated and protected from misuse. If your card has been lost or stolen, visit your nearest ICP Customer Happiness Centre as soon as possible. If your Emirates ID is damaged, take it with you when you visit.
If you have a copy of your lost Emirates ID, bring that along too. Don’t have one? No problem. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) can retrieve your Emirates ID details through its system.
Get Your Documents Ready
Before starting your application, make sure you have the necessary paperwork ready.
Mandatory Documents:
- Original passport
- Copy of your valid passport
- Copy of your residence visa
- Recent coloured passport-sized photograph that meets ICP requirements
Additional Documents (If Applicable):
In some cases, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) may request additional documents depending on your residency category. And depending on your residency or sponsorship status, you may also need:
- Copy of your previous Emirates ID (front and back)
- Sponsor’s passport copy
- Father’s passport copy and Emirates ID for dependents sponsored by their father
- Original entry permit
- Birth certificate
- Disability certificate
Apply For A Replacement Through The UAEICP App
Once you’ve reported the incident, you can complete your replacement application directly through the official UAEICP app.
1. Download & Sign In
Download the UAEICP app from the App Store or Google Play. Signing in with UAE Pass is the quickest option, but if you don’t have one, you can create an ICP account using your email address.
2. Search For The Replacement Service
From the app’s main menu, search for Replace Emirates ID for Residents and tap Start Service.
3. Complete Your Application
The app will guide you through several sections, including:
- User Details: Your information will automatically appear if you’re using UAE Pass.
- Identification Information: Confirm your Unified Number, Emirates ID details and previous card expiry date. You’ll also need to choose the reason for replacing your card, whether it’s because it was lost, stolen, damaged or due to a passport change.
- Personal Information: Fill in details such as your nationality, place of birth, religion, marital status, education, profession and employment category.
- Signature: If you’d like to update the signature on your new Emirates ID, you’ll need to visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre after submitting your application.
- Passport Details: Enter your passport number, issue and expiry dates, and issuing authority.
- Contact Information: Add your UAE address, mobile number and email address.
- Overseas Address: If required, provide your permanent address outside the UAE.
- Delivery Preference: Choose whether you’d like to collect your new Emirates ID from a courier office or have it delivered to your home or workplace.
4. Upload The Required Documents
Upload all mandatory documents along with your recent passport photograph. If your application requires any additional paperwork, you can upload those files at this stage too.
5. Review Everything Before Submitting
Double-check all your details carefully before submitting the application to avoid delays. Once you’re satisfied that everything is correct, proceed to pay.
6. Pay The Replacement Fee
You can pay immediately using a debit or credit card, or choose the Pay Later option if available. After your payment is processed, you’ll receive a request number by email, which you’ll need to track your application.
How To Track Your Emirates ID Application
Want to see how things are progressing? Head to the ICP Smart Services portal and enter your request number into the quick search section. You’ll then be able to view the latest status of your replacement request.
Receiving Your New Emirates ID
Once your replacement card is ready, you’ll receive an SMS from either Emirates Post or Zajel with collection or delivery details. If you’ve selected home or office delivery, the courier will contact you to arrange the delivery. One important thing to note: your replacement Emirates ID will have the same expiry date as your previous card.
Emirates ID Replacement Fees
Replacing your Emirates ID online costs AED 451.40 in total, which includes:
- AED 300 – Emirates ID issuance fee
- AED 29.40 – E-service fee
- AED 122 – ICP service fee
