Seems like now’s a better time than ever to be a student in Dubai, because UAE schools are about to experience one of the shortest school weeks ever. After enjoying the upcoming long weekend for the 54th Eid Al Etihad (From Saturday, November 29th to Tuesday, December 2nd), they will head back to class for just three days. Yup, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Just those 3 days before they slip back into another holiday – aka a four-week winter break. It’s like all my prayers when I was in school finally came true… just a few years too late. I have all the important details you need to know, so keep reading to find out more.

How This Mini School Week Appears
The Ministry of Education has already confirmed that all public and private schools will close on Monday and Tuesday for Eid Al Etihad. Since the winter holiday begins in mid-December, this creates a quirky gap where students will briefly return to school right in the middle of major holiday excitement.
But this doesn’t mean families have a free pass to let their kids skip these crucial three days. And they’ve already got contingency plans in place for unapproved absences. Some schools will use this time to give students reasons to come in, such as saving report card discussions, extra-credit chances or make-up assignments for these very days.
Schools Preparing For Mixed Attendance
Schools are expecting very different vibes during these three days. Some will likely see full attendance because important exams will be happening as soon as students walk back into class. These schools will be treating the week seriously, with revision sessions, final checks and a push to finish the term properly.
Other schools, however, are preparing for a much quieter turnout. Many students will have already completed their exams before the Eid break, which means they’ll be returning with “holiday mode” fully switched on. And with winter travel plans kicking in, some families might already be packing for their trips.
A Quick Check-In Before The Long Holiday
As schools get ready for the end of term and families prepare for winter travel, these three days will serve as a little bridge between two big breaks. Whether classrooms end up full or half empty, the goal will be the same: wrap things up smoothly before everyone heads into a long, much-needed winter holiday.
