How To Apply For Your Desert Camp Permit
Getting your camping permit is super easy and fully digital. You can apply either through the ‘Dubai Now’ app or by visiting the Dubai Municipality website at wintercamp.dm.gov.ae. Once there, just fill in the ‘Temporary Winter Camp Permit Application Service’ form.
If you’re using the Dubai Now app, make sure to log in with your UAE Pass. The permit is for personal use only and is valid from November 1 until the end of April, covering the entire official winter camping season. You’ll need to book your camp for at least three months, and you can extend it up to six months. So basically, you can enjoy the whole winter under the stars!
Who Can Apply & What You’ll Need
This permit is for families only, meaning it can’t be rented out or used by hotels or private companies. To complete your application, make sure you have the following documents ready:
- A copy of your passport
- A copy of your family book
- Your bank account details (including IBAN, bank name, and account holder’s name). This is needed for your deposit refund.
Once you submit everything, the municipality will review your application and verify the documents before giving the final approval.
Enjoy The Great Outdoors — The Safe Way
Dubai Municipality has allocated designated camping plots in Al Aweer, offering a secure, family-friendly space to experience the desert in comfort.
Each permit clearly defines the boundaries and safety requirements of your campsite. You can set up your camp within the assigned space. But remember the area must be fenced, and no additional structures or unauthorised activities are allowed outside your designated zone. The focus is on family time, relaxation, and enjoying the desert responsibly.
Easy Online Management
The municipality portal makes managing your permit simple and stress-free. You can use it to:
- Get a copy of your permit
- Extend your camping duration
- Request a refund of your insurance deposit
Everything is handled electronically, so you can spend more time packing your gear and planning campfire nights instead of worrying about paperwork.
So, grab your camping chairs, pack your barbecue gear, and get ready for cozy nights under Dubai’s starlit sk!
