The Four New Visit Visa Categories
1. Artificial Intelligence Specialist Visa
Tech experts, especially those in AI, can now apply for a special entry visa. It can be issued for single or multiple entries for a set period. The only requirement is a letter from a licensed technology company in the UAE that will act as a host or sponsor.
2. Entertainment Visa
Artists, performers, and entertainers visiting for temporary projects can now get a dedicated entertainment visa. This allows foreign professionals in the industry to work in the UAE for a short period while contributing to the country’s cultural and creative scene.
3. Event Visa
If you’re heading to the UAE for a festival, exhibition, conference, seminar, or any cultural, sports, religious, or educational event, this is the visa you’ll need. The sponsor must be either a public or private sector organisation, and applicants will need a letter from the host that includes details about the event and its duration.
4. Cruise Ship and Leisure Boat Visa
Tourists arriving on cruise ships or leisure boats can now benefit from a multiple-entry visa. This is valid for a temporary period and requires a proper travel itinerary. The host or sponsor must be a licensed cruise or leisure company operating in the UAE.
Other Important Visa Changes
Humanitarian Residence Permit
The UAE will now issue a one-year renewable residence permit for people from countries facing wars, disasters, or unrest. No sponsor or guarantor is required for this permit, and renewals will be reviewed by the ICP. The permit is considered void if the holder leaves the UAE.
Residency for Widows and Divorcees
Foreign widows and divorcees can now apply for a one-year residency permit, with an option to renew. Conditions differ depending on whether the husband was Emirati or foreign, but applications must be made within six months of the death or divorce. Financial stability and proper housing are required, especially if the woman is sponsoring children.
Sponsoring Relatives and Friends
New income rules are now in place for residents wanting to sponsor family or friends:
- Immediate family: Minimum salary of AED 4,000 per month.
- Second- or third-degree relatives: Minimum salary of AED 8,000 per month.
- Friends: Minimum salary of AED 15,000 per month.
Business Exploration Visa
For those coming to explore business opportunities in the UAE, financial solvency is now a must. Applicants must prove they have the funds to pursue their business activity, or already be engaged in it through an existing company abroad.
Truck Drivers’ Visa
Truck drivers can now apply for single or multiple-entry visas. The sponsor must be a licensed freight or goods transport company, and applicants must provide health insurance and a financial guarantee.
How To Apply
Applications for all these new categories go through the ICP. Depending on the visa type, applicants will need a sponsor such as:
- A licensed tech company (AI specialists).
- An entertainment organiser (performers).
- A public or private organisation (event attendees).
- A licensed cruise or leisure operator (tourists).
Whether you’re an AI expert, a performer, a festival-goer, or a cruise traveller, there’s now a visa tailored just for you.
