What’s Coming To The Waterfalls

The new retail spaces will cover around 750 square meters and include 4 restaurants, 4 shops, and 6 food and beverage kiosks. Visitors can expect a mix of flavours and experiences, from traditional Emirati and Arabic cuisine to Western bites and casual cafés. There will also be souvenir shops, local cafés, and even rental spaces for equipment. Perfect for anyone looking to make the most of Hatta’s great outdoors. All of this adds to the charm of the waterfalls, making it more than just a scenic spot, it’s becoming a full experience.

A Major Milestone For Hatta

This initiative was launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the goal of creating more investment opportunities for citizens. It ties into Dubai’s larger development goals like the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the Hatta Development Master Plan, and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which all aim to make Dubai one of the top three global cities for tourism. In short, it’s about building a sustainable future while giving back to the community.

The Stunning Hatta Waterfalls

Of course, let’s not forget the star of the show – the Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls itself. Right next to Hatta Dam, this attraction is a breathtaking blend of nature and creativity. Water cascades down from the Hatta Hydroelectric Plant’s upper dam, flowing across a massive mosaic mural. Which also happens to be the largest of its kind in the world! This 2,199-square-meter artwork is made from more than 1.2 million pieces of natural marble and depicts the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. It’s a landmark that beautifully ties history, art, and nature together in one unforgettable view.

Is Hatta Dam Worth Visiting?

If you’re wondering whether Hatta Dam and its waterfalls are worth the trip, the answer is a big YES! Just 90 minutes from Dubai, Hatta feels like an escape to another world. Surrounded by the rugged Hajar Mountains and calm turquoise waters, it’s the perfect spot for both adventure lovers and those who just want to relax in nature. Whether you’re into kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, or simply taking in the views, Hatta has something for everyone.

Do You Need To Pay To Enter?

Good news – there’s no entrance fee to visit Hatta Dam or the waterfalls. You can enjoy the views and wander around for free. However, activities like kayaking, ziplining, or renting bikes do come at a small cost. Kayaking, for example, starts at around AED 60, and pedal boats are available too. Think of it as a “pay for what you do” setup. Absolutely perfect for families, groups, or solo travelers looking for flexibility.

When’s The Best Time To Go?

If you’re planning a trip, aim for the cooler months between October and April. That’s when the weather is pleasant enough to enjoy outdoor activities without breaking too much of a sweat. Early mornings and late afternoons are especially magical. The lighting is perfect for photos, and you can avoid the bigger crowds. Summer is less ideal because of the heat, but if you do go, make sure you’re prepared with water, sunscreen, and a hat.

Things To Do In Hatta

There’s so much to keep you busy in Hatta beyond just the waterfalls. Kayak or paddle across the sparkling dam waters, explore the hiking and biking trails in the Hajar Mountains, or visit the Hatta Heritage Village to step back in time and see what traditional Emirati life looked like. Thrill-seekers will love the Hatta Wadi Hub, where you can try activities like ziplining, zorbing, axe throwing, and mountain biking. If you prefer something more laid-back, the Honeybee Garden is a sweet stop (literally) where you can learn about beekeeping and taste fresh honey.

Something To Eat & Somewhere To Stay

After all that adventure, you’re going to need a good meal. Luckily, Hatta has some great dining options and even more are on their way to the Waterfall! From local mandi restaurants serving hearty Emirati dishes to cosy cafés with light bites, you’ll find something to suit your taste. And if you want to make a weekend of it, there are plenty of unique places to stay. The JA Hatta Fort Hotel offers resort-style comfort, while the Hatta Sedr Trailers give you a quirky glamping experience right by the water. Camping under the stars is also a popular option if you’re up for it.

Tips For First-Time Visitors

If it’s your first visit, pack smart. Comfortable shoes are a must for hiking or walking around rocky paths. Bring snacks, water, and sunscreen because while new retail spaces are coming soon, food options on-site are still limited. And please remember, swimming isn’t allowed in the dam, so stick to kayaking or paddle boating for your water fun.

Hatta Just Become The Hub Of The UAE

With the opening of the new retail spaces and all the exciting opportunities around the Hatta Waterfalls, this destination is only getting better. It’s a place where culture, adventure, and natural beauty meet, and now it’s also becoming a hub for local businesses. Day trips to weekend escapes, Hatta gives you the perfect mix of adventure-relaxation, all just a short drive from Dubai.
