Okay, I know it’s a little early to start counting down to December, but if there’s even a chance of scoring a 5-day weekend, I’m obviously going to tell y’all about it. This year, UAE National Day 2025 falls on Tuesday, December 2, and the official public holidays are usually December 2 and 3. That means we already get a sweet little midweek break. But what if it can become something way more exciting? Thanks to the UAE’s magical holiday-moving powers (AKA the newly amended public holiday law), there’s a very real chance that Monday, December 1 could be granted to us as a day off. And if that happens? You could be looking at Friday, November 28, to Wednesday, December 3 completely off. That’s 5 whole days of no alarms, no emails, and all the vibes. If I could hibernate until December I would, but in the meantime let me breakdown these details even further for you.

Why This Might Actually Happen
Before you say, “This sounds too good to be true,” hear me out. The UAE has done this before. Earlier this year, the Islamic New Year got bumped to a Friday to give everyone a proper long weekend. Even though the actual celebrations took place on Thursday, June 26th. It’s all part of the country’s effort to give people more balance between work and life. (And honestly, who would say no to a cheeky long weekend?).
To add to my reasoning, Commemoration Day is on November 30, which is a Sunday in 2025. In past years, that’s been observed with a day off on December 1. So if the stars align and the government decides to keep that pattern, we could be rolling right into National Day with 3 bonus days off before the actual celebrations even begin!
So, What’s The Hype About UAE National Day 2025?
If you’re new here or just need a reminder, UAE National Day (although an official name change has been made to Eid Al Etihad) celebrates the country’s founding in 1971, when all 7 emirates joined together. It’s a big deal for the history sake, but also as a full-on celebration of everything that makes UAE awesome!
I’m talking fireworks that light up the entire skyline, drone shows, parades, concerts, and everything in between. Malls, streets, cars and many more things are decked out in red, green, white, and black. There’s a special buzz in the air that just makes everything feel extra vibrant on these days.
3, 4 or 5 Days Of Holiday – It’s Gonna Be Epic
Even if we only get the usual two days off, National Day is always a highlight on the calendar. But if this long weekend plan actually becomes reality? Hotels, staycations, events, and more are going to book up fast. So it wouldn’t hurt to start casually planning now. (Or not-so-casually. We see you already checking travel deals.) And don’t worry, because you know Gulf Buzz will have your back with the best recommendations to celebrate!
Long story short: keep an eye out for the official announcement. But if past trends are anything to go by, it’s looking very promising. And who wouldn’t want an extra-long holiday to celebrate the UAE in style?
