HH Sheikh Mohammed, personally visited the UAE Pavilion and was full of praise. Sharing his excitement on social media, he admired the pavilion’s unique design, inspired by the traditional Al Areesh houses – ancient homes crafted from palm fronds and trunks. But what really stood out to him was how the Pavilion not only celebrates the past, it’s also a a bold showcase of the UAE’s future, featuring projects in space exploration, cutting-edge healthcare, and sustainability. Sheikh Mohammed also took a moment to thank Sheikha Mariam bint Mohammed bin Zayed for her outstanding supervision of the Pavilion’s design and development, praising her efforts in beautifully sharing the UAE’s story with the world.
Honouring Heritage Through Stunning Design
Inspired by the beloved date palm tree, the structure reimagines the traditional Areesh using 90 stunning rachis columns. Built using sustainable palm waste and traditional Japanese woodworking techniques, it’s a breathtaking mix of old-world charm and cutting-edge craftsmanship. The palm tree roots symbolise the UAE’s deep cultural heritage. While its towering branches reaching toward the sky represent the nation’s soaring ambitions.
A Multi-Sensory Journey From Earth To Ether
Inside, you’re taken on a captivating journey themed ‘Earth to Ether’. It’s a full sensory experience, blending storytelling, innovation, and emotion. Guests meet the UAE’s visionaries – the Explorers of Space, the Catalysts of Healthcare, and the Stewards of Sustainability – who are shaping a bold future for the nation. The journey finishes with ‘Woven Legacies’. This is an awe-inspiring documentary installation that gives a touching look at contemporary life in the UAE. It’s a perfect reminder of how far the nation has come while staying true to its roots.

And it’s not just about the pavilion stunning looks. Visitors can savour delicious Emirati cuisine, where east meets west in mouth-watering dishes. Just a little over two weeks after opening, the UAE Pavilion hit an exciting milestone – welcoming its 250,000th visitor! The special guest was celebrated with a commemorative certificate, exclusive gifts, and a complimentary dining experience. And the excitement doesn’t stop there. Expo 2025 Osaka has already welcomed over 1 million visitors overall since launching. And the UAE Pavilion has proven to be a must-visit highlight!
A Special Homecoming
In a beautiful full-circle moment, Rashid Al Nuaimi – the UAE’s former Foreign Minister and Commissioner General at Expo 1970 Osaka – returned to visit the 2025 Pavilion. Over 50 years after leading the UAE’s first ever participation in a World Expo, his visit was a touching tribute to the UAE’s journey from a young nation to a global leader.
