The latest addition, a bridge as part of the massive Al Shindagha Corridor redevelopment, is leading the charge by slashing travel times from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes. Where Does This Bridge Take You?
This newly opened bridge is designed to ease congestion and improve traffic flow. Here’s what you need to know:
- It serves vehicles coming from the Infinity Bridge via Al Mina Street
- It connects to the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street
- It stretches 1,210 meters and features three lanes
- It can handle up to 4,800 vehicles per hour
That’s a huge upgrade for drivers who are frequent flyers in this area!
What’s Next For The Al Shindagha Corridor?
Don’t worry, The Al Shindagha Corridor project isn’t stopping here, there’s still 10% more to come! This massive redevelopment will span 4.8 km and includes 5 new bridges in total. 2 more bridges are still under construction, and the RTA expects to open them by the second quarter of this year. Yup, that soon! Here’s what to expect:
- Bridge 1: 780 meters long, three lanes, 4,800 vehicles per hour – Designed for traffic from Infinity Bridge via Al Mina Street toward Al Wasl Street.
- Bridge 2: 985 meters long, two lanes, 3,200 vehicles per hour – Will serve vehicles coming from Jumeirah Street heading toward Al Mina Street and Al Saqr Interchange.
