UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced a new policy for federal government employees during the holy month of Ramadan.

Remote Work Hours Announced For Federal Employees

Under this directive, 70% of federal employees will work remotely on Fridays, while the rest of the staff will work on site during the entire month. Additionally, the Sheikh has ordered remote working hours for students in universities and public schools on Fridays, with consideration given to the dates of pre-determined physical exams.

Further announcements were made that official working hours for Abu Dhabi Government employees on Fridays during Ramadan will be 70% remote and 30% in-office, while government universities and schools will operate 100% remotely, taking into account prescheduled exams. Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has also directed government entities in Dubai to implement a remote working system.

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has announced official working hours during the holy month from Monday to Thursday, starting at 9 am and ending at 2:30 pm. On Fridays, official working hours will start at 9 am and end at 12 noon. Earlier, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) had announced that ministries and federal authorities could implement flexible or remote work schedules during Ramadan in line with their specific requirements. The official working hours during the holy month of Ramadan for the employees of federal authorities have also been released, with official working hours starting from 9:00 to 14:30 from Monday to Thursday, and from 9:00 to 12:00 on Friday.
