Last week, big cats at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C, tested positive for COVID-19. They were showing obvious symptoms like runny nose, loss of appetite, coughing and lethargy. Hence their faecal samples were taken and tested. “We saw a real decrease in appetite interest, so this week they’ve done more to stimulate their appetite,” said spokesperson Pamela Baker-Masson.
To increase their appetite, the big cats were given baby food, elk meat, chicken broth, goat milk and goat cheese, etc. Baby food was given to make their food as tempting as possible. This week the zoo released a statement saying that three tigers and three of the lions were eating normally and getting better.
