The age is social media is upon us and it looks like it’s here to stay. With endless positives such as being able to connect with anywhere at any time and the world becoming virtually smaller than we can imagine also comes endless negatives.
Big names like Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran have been known to go on breaks from social media every now and then. Anything in excess is detrimental and so is social media. Here are seven reasons why you need to go on a break from social media.
1. Cut Comparison
We see everyone’s best days being showcased constantly and it’s bound to make us feel like our ordinary day has nothing good in comparison. No access to social media will help cut this constant unhealthy comparison.
2. Too Much Time
Instagram or any other form of social media is a black hole for time and we have all experienced it. Without it, we will have more time on our hands to actually get things done.
3. Get Set Goal
With more time, we can focus better on our goals and finally execute all the plans that we have made and remade over time.
4. Reconnect With Reality
Imagine you’re waiting for someone to come and you don’t have your social media to keep you distracted. You will actually look up and around, see the people, absorb the surroundings, listen to nature around and be truly present in your reality.
5. Say Goodbye To FOMO
When you see others doing things without you, it leaves you with a fear of missing out and ruins your mood for the day, or sometimes days. If you don’t know what others are up-to there won’t be any FOMO, and you can peacefully be happy with your self and your present moment.
6. Move On
In the form of people and posts, social media can be a constant reminder of the past. It does not allow us to move on and get rid of it temporarily will definitely be a first step in moving forward and letting go.
7. Come Back Stronger
When you’re done with the break and come back online, it will be with a new perspective. It will help you understand the impact of social.
