Earlier last week Emirates NBD sent an email to customers saying that starting September 1, 2025, international transfers through the app or online banking including, DirectRemit, will come with a new fee of AED 26.25 (VAT included). But don’t worry, this fee won’t apply if you’re sending money to one of the six exempted countries. Keep reading for all the important details you need to know.
Which 6 Countries Are Exempted
Emirates NBD has confirmed that its popular DirectRemit service will continue to be free of charge for transfers to India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Sri Lanka, and the UK. That means if you’re sending at least AED 100 through their app or online banking, you won’t pay a single dirham in fees. For all other countries, a small fee of up to AED 26.25 will apply, and correspondent bank fees will be removed. Making it simpler and cheaper for international transfers.
And for those of you who don’t know. DirectRemit is Emirates NBD’s digital money transfer service that lets you send money to loved ones in under 60 seconds. It’s quick, easy, and now confirmed to stay free for the above countries.

That’s not all. Emirates NBD is also expanding its DirectRemit service to over 30 new countries. Offering near real-time transfers, making it even easier and faster to send money across borders. If you’re a customer under Private Banking, Priority Banking, or Personal Banking Beyond, you’ll continue to enjoy free international transfers. No changes for you!
