Which Is The Next Long Weekend Now That Eid Al Adah Is Over?

The UAE is known for its generous holiday calendar, and residents eagerly anticipate the upcoming Islamic New Year holiday, which promises another thrilling three-day weekend. After bidding farewell to the six-day holiday that celebrated the Islamic festival Eid Al Adha, it’s time for residents to return to work on Monday, July 3. However, the Monday blues won’t linger for long, as the much-awaited Hijri New Year holiday approaches.

The Hijri New Year, which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar, is just days away, and excitement is building for another extended weekend. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the esteemed president of the Emirates Astronomy Society (ESA), predicts that the new Hijri year, known as Muharram 1, is likely to commence on Wednesday, July 19. Although the official list of holidays released by the UAE government designates the holiday to celebrate the new year on Friday, July 21, residents can rejoice in the knowledge that a delightful three-day weekend awaits them.

But the excitement doesn’t end there. Another significant break awaits UAE residents on Friday, September 29, in commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday. This long weekend provides another opportunity to relax, recharge, and engage in joyful festivities.

As the year draws to a close, the UAE National Day takes center stage on December 2 and 3 (Saturday and Sunday). This momentous holiday marks the spirit of unity, pride, and patriotism as the nation celebrates its rich history and achievements.
