Dubai is taking public transport to the next level with its latest innovation – the Rail Bus. This sleek, fully autonomous vehicle is 3D-printed from recyclable materials and designed to provide a faster, more sustainable way to travel across the city. RTA announced that the Rail Bus is currently still in development but promises to revolutionise urban mobility once launched. Come with me, and I’ll share all the details you need to know about UAE’s first-ever Rail Bus.
The innovation was just unveiled at the World Government Summit 2025 at Madinat Jumeirah. Immediately you can see how the Rail Bus stands out with its bold gold and black design. Inside, passengers will find two rows of bright orange seats, with dedicated spaces for people of determination, ensuring accessibility for all. Each carriage is designed to hold 40 passengers, with 22 seated, and is packed with smart features. Screens above the seats will provide real-time journey updates, including next stops, weather conditions, and time, while control panels at both ends of the carriage allow for seamless operation.
And it doesn’t just stop at style and speed. The Rail Bus is designed to be a sustainable, cost-efficient transport option that will integrate with the city’s existing public transit network. Powered entirely by solar energy, it will run autonomously on elevated tracks across the emirate, offering flexible, frequent, and smooth connectivity. Built with a lightweight, scalable 3D-printed structure, the Rail Bus is designed to minimise environmental impact while delivering maximum efficiency. It will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h, making it a quick and convenient alternative for urban commuting.
This groundbreaking project is a major step toward Dubai’s goal of becoming the world’s smartest city. It aligns with several key national strategies, including:
The innovative Rail Bus has already caught the attention of Dubai’s leadership. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited the RTA platform at the World Government Summit to check out the new system in person. He was joined by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE.
With such a strong endorsement, the Rail Bus is well on its way to becoming a key part of Dubai’s futuristic public transport network. However, no official launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet – be sure to stay tuned to Gulf Buzz and this exciting new chapter for Dubai’s public Transportation network progresses.
