UAE Eid Al Fitr Public Holiday Predicted To Be 5-Day Long Weekend

With less than 20 days left of the Holy Month of Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr is fast approaching. And I have some good news for all of us – Leading UAE astronomers predict that the Eid Al Fitr public holiday is likely to be a 5-day long weekend! Yes, 5 days of pure sunshine and bliss, away from the hustle and grind of our daily work lives. I have all the details you want to know, so keep reading to find out more.

What Do The Experts Predict?

According to the Dubai Astronomy Group, astronomical calculations suggest that Ramadan will likely last 30 days, making the five-day long weekend scenario the most probable outcome! However, the final confirmation will only come after the official moon-sighting committee meets on March 29 to observe the sky. If the crescent moon is not sighted on the night of March 29, the committee with reconvene on the evening of March 30.

How Many Days Off Can You Expect?

As we all know by now, the number of days off we’ll get for Eid Al Fitr depends on when the crescent Moon is sighted, which determines the last day of Ramadan.

Here’s what we know so far:

  • If Ramadan lasts 29 days, and the moon is sighted on March 29: Eid will start on Sunday, March 30 – meaning public holidays on Sunday, March 30, Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1. Paired with Saturday, March 29, that’s a four-day long weekend!

  • If Ramadan lasts 30 days, and the moon is sighted on March 30: Eid will start on Monday, March 31 – meaning holidays on Monday, March 31, Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2. That means a five-day weekend when combined with Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, weekend!

The Countdown Is On!

Whether it’s a four-day or five-day weekend, one thing is certain – Eid Al Fitr will bring a much-needed holiday to relax, celebrate with family, and enjoy the festive spirit.

Keep an eye on Gulf Buzz, as we’ll update you when the official announcement on March 29 comes out. Till then, start planning that epic getaway you’ve been waiting for. Find some amazing travel recommendations here below.
