Why The Sudden Change From Plastic Cards To Digital Apps?

Right now, people still have to physically present their Emirates ID to access essential services like healthcare, banking, or even just to check into a hotel. That’s something Federal National Council (FNC) member Adnan Al Hammadi flagged as a major pain point. During a recent council session, he pointed out that even with all the digital progress the UAE has made, relying on physical cards can slow things down and create unnecessary hassle.

Responding to these concerns, Minister Abdul Rahman Al Owais, who represents the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), confirmed that the digital version of the Emirates ID , to be called the ‘e-Emirates ID’, is already being used in many government and private services.
