UAE Announces Next Space Mission With First Female Emirati Astronaut

The next UAE space mission has just been announced, and it comes with a giant leap forward in gender equality! His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, recently met with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) team at Union House in Dubai earlier in July. During the briefing, the MBRSC team provided updates on MBZ-SAT, the region’s most advanced satellite. Currently, in the environmental testing phase, this stage is crucial for ensuring the satellite’s durability and functionality in space. The team confirmed that final launch preparations will begin upon successful completion of these tests. The MBZ-SAT is set to launch in October 2024 on a SpaceX rocket, with the first Female Emirati Astronaut leading the mission! What Is The MBZ-SAT? UAE’s New Star In Space

The MBZ-SAT, set to be the region’s most advanced commercial satellite, will specialise in high-resolution satellite imagery with round-the-clock image-capturing capabilities. This innovative project aims to strengthen the UAE’s partnerships in the space industry and meet the growing demand for satellite imagery. Its versatile applications will include mapping, environmental monitoring, navigation, infrastructure management, and disaster relief. This technology is crucial for assessing natural disasters, planning relief efforts, and aiding in rebuilding. But this UAE space mission is a little extra different and special from the others.
