This initiative is meant to give visa overstayers the opportunity to either secure employment and legally stay in the country or return to their home country without incurring fines. However, once the deadline passes on January 1, 2025, fines will automatically apply, and authorities will carry out extensive checks on individuals without valid visas.

Originally launched for two months on September 1, the amnesty program offered a chance for those with expired visas to adjust their status without penalties. People can either apply for work visas or leave the UAE without paying overstay fees. This extension offers an additional 2 months, extending that same second chance to those who are in desperate need of it.
Amnesty applications are processed at designated centers across the UAE. In Abu Dhabi, applicants can visit ICP centers in Al Dhafra, Sweihan, Al Maqam, and Al Shahamah, as well as approved private typing centers. In Dubai, applications can be submitted at Amer service centers and the Al Awir immigration violator center. ICP centers across the Emirates will also process applications for other regions.
