A clock tower with panoramic views of the Kalba is now open. The Sharjah Ruler, Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, opened Kalba’s Clock Tower Square on Thursday. The structure is 60 metres tall and features an observation deck with views of the town and the sea.
In the square’s centre are 12 major fountains that indicate the number of hours and 60 tiny ones that represent the number of minutes. The tower features two viewing decks, one at 33 metres and the other at 46 metres.
On the first deck, there is also a restaurant. The tower has seven stories, and the clock face is five metres in diameter. The tower’s wide dome features a gold mosaic and Islamic embellishments on the exterior.
