Saudi Arabia: Women Are Now Allowed To Drive A Taxi

Women in Saudi Arabia can now apply to be cab drivers, according to the Saudi General Directorate of Traffic. Saudi Arabia stated four years ago that women would be allowed to drive, with the new rule taking effect in June 2019.

Women in Saudi Arabia can apply for a general taxi licence at one of the nation’s 18 driving schools. It will cost SR 200 ($53) to apply for the licence. Women in Saudi Arabia can now drive trains, planes, and race vehicles. Women can now drive for online ride-hailing applications like Uber and Careem, thanks to the new law.
