Dubai never fails to amaze me with how safe it can get because once you think it’s already safe, it just gets a whole lot safer! Take this for example – Dubai’s RTA just introduced a new smart electronic gate on the Dubai-Hatta road and other key desert routes to increase safety measures in those areas. These gates aim to improve road safety by preventing stray animals from wandering onto highways, reducing the risk of accidents and keeping traffic flowing smoothly. I mean talk about a smooth journey from start to finish. Come with me, and I’ll give you all the important details you need to know if you’re planning on making a trip down any of these roads soon.
Stray animals crossing roads in desert areas have been a common cause of accidents. The newly installed smart gates act as a barrier, keeping animals off the road and ensuring a safer driving experience. For motorists, this means fewer disruptions and a smoother, worry-free journey.
The installation of these gates is part of the RTA’s larger vision to make Dubai’s roads some of the safest in the world. And the Dubai-Hatta roads is just the beginning – more smart gates are planned for installation in various areas in the city throughout 2025.
Dubai isn’t the only emirate stepping up its road safety game. Ajman has introduced an AI-powered monitoring system across 26 locations, active since October 1. This advanced system detects violations like using mobile phones while driving or not wearing seatbelts, further reinforcing road safety for everyone.
With smart gates implemented in strategic areas and more to come, Dubai is leading the way in creating safer roads across the UAE. These safety measures protect both drivers and pedestrians and ensure everyone gets to where they need to go without delay.
