RTA Announces Dynamic Salik & Parking Charges From 2025

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled plans to implement a Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) system and a revamped Parking Tariff Policy in 2025. These measures are designed to streamline traffic flow and improve parking availability across the city, particularly during peak hours and events.

Variable Salik Toll Pricing

The Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) system, set to launch at the end of January 2025, introduces toll rates based on traffic demand and time of day. Key details include:

  • Toll-Free Hours: Motorists can enjoy toll-free passage between 1am and 6am daily.
  • Weekday Rates: During morning (6am–10am) and evening (4pm–8pm) peak hours, the toll will be set at AED 6. For off-peak hours (10am–4pm and 8pm–1am), the rate reduces to AED 4.
  • Sunday Rates: On Sundays, excluding public holidays or major events, the toll will be AED 4 throughout the day, with free hours from 1am to 6am.

New Parking Tariffs and Congestion Pricing

The Variable Parking Tariff Policy will be implemented by the end of March 2025, introducing distinct rates for different parking zones and times:

  • Standard Parking Fees: Premium parking spaces will cost Dh6 per hour during peak hours (8am–10am and 4pm–8pm), while other public parking areas will charge AED 4 per hour. Off-peak hours (10am–4pm and 8pm–10pm) will maintain the same rates, with free parking from 10pm to 8am and all day on Sundays.
  • Event-Specific Congestion Pricing: A new policy targeting event areas will impose AED 25 per hour for parking near venues during major events. The rollout begins in February 2025 around the Dubai World Trade Centre.

  • Appreciate implementation of dynamic system.. People would appreciate if you can implement a metered parking system upto the extend of usage.... If a person require on 10minutes he is forced to pay one hour charge by default instead he should be charged proportionately for 10 minutes... I believe there will be ample parking available due to that and also fairly treated charging for the services availed....
