Private Sector Firms Urged To Hit Emiratisation Targets By NYE – AED 96,000 Penalty For Failure

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has reminded private sector companies in UAE of their responsibilities to ensure hit their Emiratisation targets before December 31, 2024 – the clock is ticking. Keep reading to find out all the important information you need to know.

Is Your Company Required To Meet Emiratisation Targets?

Private sector firms with 50 or more employees require achieving a 2% increase in the Emiratisation of skilled roles. Meanwhile, companies with 20 to 49 employees in rapidly growing industries are required to employ at least one Emirati and retain any citizens they currently employ before January 1, 2025.

Consequences For Fake Emiratisation & Non-Compliance

Companies trying to cut corners with fake Emiratisation practices will face serious consequences. MoHRE has warned against fraudulent activities, which can include falsely claiming to meet quotas. Violators will face:

  • Downgraded classification in the Ministry’s system.
  • Legal action, including potential court referrals.
  • Financial penalties of AED 96,000 per Emirati not hired as required.

The Ministry has also urged Emirati job seekers to verify the legitimacy of job offers and report any suspicious practices through the call centre at 600 590 000 or via their app and website.

Support & Benefits For Companies

To support this initiative, MoHRE is encouraging businesses to utilise the Nafis program to connect with Emiratis seeking jobs. It also stressed the importance of:

  • Registering Emiratis in the UAE’s pension, retirement, and social security systems.
  • Ensuring monthly salaries are paid via the Wage Protection System (WPS).

Additionally, companies part of the Tawteen Partners Club can enjoy perks like up to 80% discounts on MoHRE services and priority access to government procurement.

Moving Forward

With the December 31 deadline fast approaching, the Ministry is counting on private sector companies to follow through on their commitments and uphold the integrity of the Emiratisation program. With ample support and benefits available, the time to act is now!
