Life hack in coming, in 3… 2… 1… If you tap out of the Dubai Metro and then board the Dubai Tram within 30 minutes, the tram ride won’t cost you a thing! Yes, you still need to tap your Nol card when boarding the tram, but no AED 3 fare will be deducted. And it gets even better. This life hack works the other way around too. If you use the Tram and then hop on the Metro within a 30-minute window, your trip across the two transports will be treated as a single journey. But just remember, the trick only works if you get your timing right between the cross overs from Metro-Tram.
This hack is a total game-changer when you’re heading to places like Dubai Marina Mall or JBR, where both the Metro and Tram are the best ways to avoid traffic. For example, if you’re on the Metro, you can get off at Sobha Realty or DMCC Station, then switch to the Tram to reach your final stop near the mall. Thanks to the 30-minute rule, you’ll only be charged for your Metro ride – your Tram journey will be free.
Saving AED 3 per trip might not sound like a lot, but if you’re a regular commuter those little savings add up fast. Plus, it’s just satisfying to know you’ve outsmarted the system (legally, of course).
