Shareefah Al Hosani, a resident of Umm Al Quwain, puts her AED3,000 monthly salary to good use by preparing over 100 Iftar meals for the needy. For the past eight years, the incredible 56-year-old UAE resident has been preparing her massive Iftar feasts. And, with only an old stove, she arranges over 100 Iftar meals for area workers and impoverished families.
“I do it simply out of love. I love giving and sharing with other people,” she told the Khaleej Times. “I keep some part of my money throughout the year so that when Ramadan comes along, I would have enough savings to fund the meals,” she said. Shareefah works as a bus supervisor in addition to being an Iftar cook. And she is raising the daughters of her late son, who was killed in a car accident four years ago.
“I’m also doing this charity on behalf of my late son,” she said. “I’m happy that I get to do this with my family. This is also a way to limit the children’s use of gadgets and their TV time. Instead, they get to embrace and practise the virtues of the holy month,” Al Hosani said.
