Indian Curriculum Schools To Get 5-Day Diwali Break

If you’ve ever heard your kids complain about how tough their Indian curriculum school is in Dubai, this news might make them the happiest student in the world! This year, many students in UAE-based Indian curriculum schools can look forward to a special extended holiday break for Diwali. While most schools are offering a four-day weekend by closing on Thursday, October 31, and Friday, November 1, a few have also added Wednesday, October 30, resulting in a full five-day weekend when combined with the Saturday and Sunday weekend. Let’s take a look at how different schools around UAE are celebrating Diwali this year!

Rangoli Designs & Paper Lanterns

At Amity School Dubai, students are diving into the Diwali spirit with creative crafts and activities. Students are crafting decorative lamps out of sourdough or paper plates, making rangoli designs, and using finger puppets to tell the stories behind this beloved festival.

Embracing Traditional Wear This Diwali

At GEMS Our Own Indian School, the festive spirit is being embraced with a special dress-up day. Students were invited to wear colourful, traditional Indian outfits on Wednesday, October 30, bringing Diwali colours into the classroom.

Festive Competitions

Shining Star International in Abu Dhabi, have decided to celebrate Diwali in a more toned down way this year, out of respect for the rising conflict in the region. However, the school still enjoyed a staff gathering on Wednesday with a Rangoli competition and traditional Indian snacks.

This Diwali, schools across the UAE are celebrating in different ways, from lively crafts to traditions clothes, exciting competitions and more. And the students get to enjoy a well-deserved break to spend this joyful occasion with their families!
