Well, one rupee notes or two rupees notes make sense, but zero rupee note? Well, India has a zero rupee. These notes are not printed by RBI (Reserve Bank of India), the RBI prints all other notes, these notes are printed by an NGO which is based in south India. The NGO’s name is the 5th pillar and they created this note to protest against corruption.
The main objective is to give these notes to people who ask for bribes. Citizens are urged to give a ‘briefcase’ full of these notes if any government officer asks them for a bribe. The note even has a sarcastic line printed on, that says, If anyone demands a bribe, give this note and report the case.
