The highlight of the 2020 was obviously the corona virus. Till now, it has affected almost about 93 million people, but wait that wasn’t enough for the virus! In northeast China, an ice cream is found to be COVID positive!
Three ice cream sample which were produced by the Tianjin Daqiaodao Food Company were submitted for a food inspection. After the reports, the flavors, taro, chocolate and strawberry were found with traces of the virus. After this report, health officials advised to not to buy this particular ice cream.
Well it is quite unusual for the virus to find its way to a food product, but University of Leeds virologist Dr. Stephen Griffin said that this could be possible because of the cream’s fat and the cold temperature.
“Of course, any level of contamination is not acceptable and always a cause for concern, but the chances are that this is the result of an issue with the production plant and potentially down to hygiene at the factory,” Griffin said. “We probably don’t need to panic that every bit of ice cream is suddenly going to be contaminated with coronavirus.”
