In a historic move, Rishi Sunak is set to become Britain’s first prime minister of Indian origin and also the first Prime minister of colour. Rishi Sunak will be taking over from Liz Truss, who incidentally also created history for the shortest tenure as PM in the UK. In another first, he will also be the also be the youngest individual to hold the position of Prime Minister of the UK in over 200 years.

Rishi Sunak – Origin & Wealth

Sunak, 42 is the oldest of 3 siblings and was born in Southampton, Hampshire to African-born Hindu parents of Indian Punjabi descent, Yashvir and Usha Sunak. While both his parents were born in Africa, his grandparents were born in India & later moved out of the country.

Sunak was born, and grew up in the UK. He graduated from Oxford University and later worked at Goldman Sachs. He went on to represent a Yorkshire constituency in parliament and eventually became chancellor in 2020.
