Gorillas At The San Diego Zoo Safari Park Test Positive For COVID-19

Several Gorillas at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park tested positive for the corona virus. It is claimed that they got infected from a member of the park itself. That particular member had tested positive but took all the measures like wearing a mask etc. Since then the park has been closed. Lisa Peterson, the park’s executive director said that eight gorillas seem to have the virus while several others are coughing.
Doctors and veterinarians are taking immense care of the gorillas. They are monitoring them and giving them ample amount of fluids and vitamins, while zoo officials are constantly keeping contact with the doctors who have treated COVID-19 before in case these gorillas develop any more symptoms. These gorillas will be kept together and away from all the other animals in the zoo.

“Aside from some congestion and coughing, the gorillas are doing well,” Peterson said. “This is wildlife, and they have their own resiliency and can heal differently than we do,” Peterson said.
