If I ever had 17 days of holidays on my hands, I think I’d come out the other end of it a different person. I mean with over 2 weeks of vacation time, the possibilities are endless. You could jump from island to island in a tropical region. Tick off ‘backpacking through Europe’ off your travel list. Go on a tour of your home country and experience it through the eyes of a tourist. Like I said, with 17 days, the possibilities are endless. Which is exactly why I’m here to show you how to score 17-days of holiday this June just by using 7 days of paid leave. Come with me, and I’ll share all the details you need to know asap.

The trick is knowing when UAE public holiday days are and planning your PTO days around them, smartly. And lucky for us, this June we’re going to see 2 public holidays. First is for Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha, and the second is for the Islamic New Year. Still sounds too good to be true? Let me break it down for you.
As we all know, Islamic holidays like Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha are based on the lunar calendar, meaning their official dates depend on moon sighting. While we can’t confirm the exact dates this early in the year, we can go off of predictions from the UAE Astronomy Group.
If Arafat Day falls on Thursday, June 5th, followed by Eid Al Adha from Friday, June 6th, to Sunday, June 8th, UAE employees will already enjoy a 4-day long weekend. But with some smart PTO planning, you can extend it to 9 days by booking:
This means your break will run from Saturday, May 31st, until Sunday, June 8th – all while only using 3/7 days of PTO! And out of these 9 days of holiday, 8 of them land in June!
And now onto your second round of holidays this June. Since Islamic New Year is just a one day occasion, you’ll have to use the most amount of PTO here. And just as Eid, the Islamic New Year also depends on the lunar cycle so the UAE Astronomy Group have predicted it to land on Wednesday, June 25 or Thursday, June 26 this year. Based on these predictions there are the days off you should take off:
If the holiday is on Wednesday, June 25 book these off:
If the holiday is on Thursday, June 26 book these off instead:
And with these days off you’ll get another 9-day break, from Saturday, June 21 to Sunday, June 29.
Here’s the magic formula:
This rare overlap of two public holidays in the same month is the perfect chance to recharge. Whether you’re planning that island hopping trip, a family vacation, or even just want to kick back and relax at home, June 2025 is the time for it all.
Just don’t wait too long to lock in your leave – the early birds will definitely catch the best breaks! 17 days of holiday, here we come!
