Once you pass immigration at the airport, the pressure is on! I’m talking about the race to grab all your electronics, chargers, phone, keys and more out of your carry on for security check. And on top of all of that, you have to make sure not to hold up the line behind you while you reorganise your bag as fast as possible afterwards. But what if I told you, all this stress and worry could be something of the past for you? Dubai International Airport (DXB) is stepping things up with new security scanners that are designed to speed things up. And I don’t mean faster conveyer belts, I mean no longer needing to remove your laptop or liquids from your bag. Come with me, and I’ll explain all the details you need to know before your next flight.

Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) has signed a deal with global security tech company Smiths Detection to install advanced checkpoint scanners in all 3 terminals at DXB. These upgraded scanners (called HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX Model-S if you’re into the techy stuff) create super-clear 3D images of your bag’s contents. They’re already approved by major international safety bodies in the US and Europe, so they’re tried and tested. These systems also come with features that help staff identify what’s in your bag automatically. And with smart lane management and trays that return themselves, things are set to move faster from start to finish.
As we all know, Dubai Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world for international travel. Which means long lines and tight schedules are just part of the reality. With millions flying in and out every month, upgrading security check is pretty much essential at this point.
Well, now I’m definitely excited for the next time I have to step through security check! What do you think about this new upgrade? It’s definitely relieving to not have to empty your bag after your packed it so neatly at home.
