Dubai Taxi Fares Are Now Increasing By This Amount!

If taxis are your primary way of getting around the city, then I’m sorry to be the one to bring you the bad news. Following 4 consecutive months of fuel prices increasing in Dubai, taxis are now following suit by increasing fare prices. So, come with me, and I’ll tell you everything you need to know about this fare increase.

How Much Is It Increasing By?

While the amount might not sound staggering, during long-haul journies, the number really adds up. So, as of now, the fares of Dubai taxis have officially increased by 12 fils per kilometre. Uff, I can’t even imagine travelling to the airport by taxi anymore; at this rate, I might just start walking.

Why The Change?

The price of petrol in the UAE has been on the rise since February. For example, back in January, Special 95 petrol was selling at AED 2.71 per litre, but now it’s AED 3.22 per litre! That’s a whopping 51 fils increase since the beginning of the year!

What Does This Increased Fare Price Mean For You?

Let’s break it down. Previously, the charge per kilometre for taxis was AED 1.97. Now, it’s AED 2.09. So, if you’re planning a trip from Al Barsha to the Dubai World Trade Centre, you’d end up shelling out an extra AED 3 for the 25-kilometer journey. It might not break the bank, but it’s certainly noticeable!

Not Everything Has Changed

While the fare for the distance travelled has gone up, the initial charge you pay when you start your journey remains the same (depending on how you get the taxi, it’s either AED 5, AED 12 or AED 20). Plus, the costs for other modes of public transport in Dubai, like the Metro, Tram, and buses, haven’t budged either.
