Dubai: 24 Locations To Witness Ramadan Cannons

Every year during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Dubai comes alive with a beautiful and time-honoured tradition – the firing of the iftar cannons, known as ‘Midfa al Iftar’. Since the 1960s, the Dubai Police have been entrusted with this spectacular custom, adding a touch of excitement and grandeur to the evening. As the sun sets, blank cartridges are fired into the air, creating a powerful sound that signals the moment for fasting Muslims to break their fast. It’s a sight that never fails to give goosebumps! Along with the daily fixed cannons, Dubai will also have three mobile iftar cannons that move across different locations throughout Ramadan. These roaming cannons will cover 17 different sites, ensuring more people get to witness this beloved tradition.
