Connecting Dubai Seamlessly

At the heart of the Blue Line’s design are its 14 stations, each strategically placed to optimise the ease of travel. 7 of these stations will be above-ground (14.5 kilometres), while the other 5 stations will be underground (15.5 kilometres), including an interchange station, and two above-ground transfer stations will seamlessly link with the existing Centrepoint station and Creek station. These strategic connections will facilitate efficient movement for all Dubai residents and tourists.

The Blue Line: A Piece of the Dubai 2040 Urban Plan

The Blue Line extension is an integral part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Plan, launched in March 2021. Anticipating a population surge to 5.8 million by 2040, up from 3.3 million in 2020, this project forms a vital component of a comprehensive plan for sustainable urban development. As Dubai’s daytime population is projected to reach 7.8 million by 2040, the Blue Line will play a pivotal role in shaping the city’s future transportation landscape.

Accommodating The Future Of Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai) first introduced the conception of the Dubai Metro Blue Line in November 2023. HH Sheikh Mohammed has said the blue line will cover “areas with a population of up to a million people such as Marsa, Dubai Creek, Festival City, International City, Al Rashidiya, Al Warqa, Mirdif, and urban areas such as Silicon Oasis, Academic City, and others. The new line will transport 320,000 new passengers daily.”

Are you ready to be more connected to Dubai than ever before? While there are still a good few years before any of the stations are open for use, this is a bright step towards Dubai’s future of sustainable transportation.
