RTA Confirms Major Road Closures During NYE – Sheikh Zayed Road, Burj Khalifa Street & More

As Dubai gears up to welcome 2025 with grandeur, RTA has just announced the closure of the key roads across town on New Year’s Eve. They have also issued important traffic updates and parking plans for New Year’s Eve. Keep reading to find out all the essentials details you need to know, to have a fun and safe NYE in Dubai!

Road Closures & Timings

To manage the influx of visitors heading to New Year’s Eve celebrations, Dubai will implement gradual road closures starting at 4 PM on Tuesday, December 31:

Key Roads Closing at 4 PM:

  • Sheikh Zayed Road
  • Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard
  • Financial Centre Street (Lower Deck)
  • Al Mustaqbal Street
  • Burj Khalifa Street
  • Al Asayel Road

Other Road Closures:

  • Al Sukuk Street at 8 PM
  • Financial Centre Street (Upper Deck) at 9 PM
  • Sheikh Zayed Road (gradual closure) starting at 11 PM

If you are driving on NYE ensure that you have an adequate navigation app to help with alternative road recommendations for these closed roads

Parking & Transport Options

Extra Parking Spaces: To accommodate the crowds, approximately 20,000 additional parking spots will be available at Dubai Mall, Zabeel, and Emaar Boulevard.

Alternative Parking: Visitors can also park at Al Wasl or the GDRFA parking areas. From there, free shuttle buses will transport you to the festivities.

Metro Stations with Parking: For a smoother experience, park your vehicle at Metro stations like Centerpoint, Etisalat e&, or Jebel Ali, and take the Metro to your destination. (Please keep in mind, the Dubai Water Canal Footbridge and its elevators will also close at 4 PM.)
