Dubai Accident Free Day Today: Get Black Points Removed From Your Driving License

If you have black points on your driver’s license, now is your opportunity to get them removed. The Federal Traffic Council is reintroducing its “Accident-Free Day” on Monday, August 26, 2024, which offers a unique incentive: drivers who avoid committing any traffic violations or accidents on this day will have four black traffic points deducted from their records.

August 26 has been chosen specifically as it coincides with the start of the new academic year. The initiative aims to ensure a safe and accident-free return to school for all. To participate and remove those black points, drivers are encouraged to sign up for the pledge, which includes commitments such as maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, obeying the speed limit, using seatbelts, avoiding mobile phone use while driving, and giving way to pedestrians and emergency vehicles. Brigadier General Engineer Hussain Ahmed Al Harthy, Chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing strategy to enhance road safety across the UAE.

Silent Radars to Enhance Road Safety in Dubai

In a further effort to improve road safety, Dubai Police is introducing “silent radars” in residential neighborhoods across the city. Unlike traditional radars, these devices won’t flash or have the usual visible design. Instead, they are programmed to do more than just monitor speeding; they can also detect drivers who are not wearing seatbelts, those using handheld mobile phones while driving, and other safety violations.

These new radars represent a significant step forward in Dubai’s commitment to ensuring safer roads for everyone, especially in residential areas where pedestrian and vehicular traffic often mix. Stay aware and follow the rules, as these radars will be keeping a close watch.
