Beware! This Mayonnaise Brand Caused 1 Death & 75 People To Be Hospitalised

On Sunday, May 12th, it was reported that 1 person died, and 75 other people were hospitalised following a food poisoning incident at the Hamburgini restaurant in Riyadh. It was found that the food poisoning was caused due to consuming ‘Bon Tum mayonnaise’. After the events took place he Ministry of Climate Change and Environment in UAE did a thorough investigation and have assured that the UAE markets are free of Bon Tum mayonnaise, indicating that the product has not been imported into the country. The Reason Behind The Food Poising

The Food and Drug Authority in Saudi Arabia reported the presence of Clostridium botulinum bacteria, the cause of botulism, in a sample of Bon Tum mayonnaise served at the Hamburgini restaurant. This is the main culprit behind the food poisoning of several people, and the unfortunate death of 1 individual.

Abu Dhabi’s Precautionary Measures

Authorities in Abu Dhabi confirmed that the emirate is also free of Bon Tum mayonnaise. They have tightened control at ports to prevent the entry of the product unless its safety and compliance with specifications are ensured.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) reassured consumers that it is taking all necessary measures to prevent any unsafe products from entering the emirate’s markets. They are ensuring stringent checks to maintain food safety standards.
