It’s time to say “bye-bye burnout, hello balance!” for some, because Ajman has gone ahead and made a grand declaration for this summer. Yup, the emirate is all set to up the cool factor this scorching season by rolling out a dreamy new work policy for government employees. So, *drumroll* at the sound of thousands of overheated government employees cheering wildly. Yep, dear reader, Ajman has just become our summer spirit animal. Let’s break down what “Remote Fridays” or “Work From Home Fridays” actually means for these lucky folks, shall we?

Starting July 1 until August 22, all government employees in Ajman will officially:
Approved by the Ajman Executive Council under the leadership of Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, this summer policy isn’t just about convenience. It’s about quality of life, more time with family, less time in traffic, and a healthier work-life balance overall. Plus, it aligns with the UAE’s larger theme for the year: “Year of Community.” Which means that somewhere out there, a tired mum or dad will now be home a little more to help with homework, walk the dog, or just breathe a bit. Just imagine!
Of course, essential public services won’t skip a beat – departments have been asked to stay flexible and ensure things keep running smoothly for residents.

Ajman’s HR department will be keeping tabs on the summer work from home model and how this all goes. They’ll develop operational models, make sure things stay on track, and by September, they’ll file a full report. Not just on productivity, but also on…*drumroll again please*…employee satisfaction and community well-being.
Can we take a second to appreciate how rare and beautiful it is when feelings make it into a government document?
Ajman’s move comes hot on the heels of Dubai’s flexible summer work model, where government employees are split into groups, with some enjoying Fridays off entirely. Honestly, it’s starting to feel like the UAE is exploring four-day workweek a little more than other years, and we are abso-friggin-lutely loving every bit of it!
Private companies have been quietly trialling the idea too, and the feedback? Glowing. Higher productivity, reduced burnout, and happier teams. One boss even said her team has stuck around longer because of the flexibility. Makes you wonder why more workplaces aren’t jumping on the bandwagon already.
So if you’re lucky enough to work for the Ajman government, congrats – you’re living the dream (or at least the summer edition of it). And if not? Well, you’ve got a few weeks to print out this article, slide it onto your boss’s desk, and mumble something about “employee retention” and “community goals” before casually walking away.
