Over 3,800 unpaid workers are rejoicing this week after an Abu Dhabi court assisted them in receiving AED106 million in outstanding salaries. The Abu Dhabi Labour Court has been busy for three months, with 1,932 claims filed between January and March. Throughout those sessions, they assisted 3,806 workers in reclaiming outstanding wages totalling over AED 106,505,923. The Abu Dhabi Labour Court adjudicated 98 per cent of its cases, while appellate cases were settled at 97 per cent.
Youssef Saeed Al Abri, Under-Secretary of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), said “cases are promptly settled, and judgments are rendered with expedited enforcement as per the provisions of the labour law and its regulations, which guarantee the rights of both parties, and enhance the efficiency, flexibility and sustainability of the labour market in the country.”
