Some women chase dreams. Others chase men. I, apparently, chase beverages that taste vaguely like ground leaves and gives me a little fluff, froth and a few surprises. Yep, no points for guessing, I am indeed talking about matcha! I remember myy fling with matcha beginning as a harmless sip. The next, I was researching chlorophyll benefits at midnight and dropping words like “ceremonial-grade” in normal conversations. And so began my journey through the Dubai’s matcha spots – here’s what I found.

Joe’s is where you go for a side of sass with your sip. Their matcha game? Seriously on point. Walking into this cafe feels like walking into that room of your younger cousin who listens to Doja Cat and knows what “clean girl aesthetic” means. They’ve got locations from Al Barsha to D3, and a matcha lineup that reads like a fashion week invite – Iced Lavender Matcha Oat Latte, Vanilla Matcha Oat Latte, and something called Iced Matcha Tonic that tasted like my metabolism might wake up. Verdict: the drinks slap, the people are intimidatingly cool, and I suddenly felt 19 again.
Minimalist, sleek, and straight out of Japan, this place is a love noteto matcha purists. Whether you like it hot, iced, or somewhere in between, The Matcha Tokyo serves up premium blends so smooth, you’ll question everything you knew about green drinks. Warning: May cause a sudden urge to declutter your life.
Kumo means “cloud,” which is appropriate since that’s what my brain turned into the second I walked into this serene Japanese-style villa. Think wooden walls, bonsai trees, and enough calm to make even the “Good morning” WhatsApp forwards seem tolerable. Their matcha drinks are fluffy, coconut-infused clouds of joy. I didn’t reach enlightenment, but I did stop doomscrolling for 12 full minutes.

Hidden in Canal House on Al Wasl Road, ONDA is for those of us who brunch like it’s a sport. Their motto – munch, gulp, and onda – is basically a personality. The food is fire (the truffle burger is almost illegal), but their matcha-based drinks are the true plot twist. Think smoothies, mocktails, and lattes that scream “put me on your grid.”
This charming bakery has been in the game since 2014, and their Salted Caramel Matcha Latte made me feel like I’d just bought a house plant and actually kept it alive. They also do matcha croissants, in case you’re into emotional eating (I am).
Their matcha is coconuty, creamy, and criminally addictive. But the real showstopper? The Matchagato. Imagine this: a glorious scoop of French vanilla soft serve melting under a pour of hot matcha. Ah, if this doesn’t temporarily solve all your life woes, I don’t know what will!
I particularly like the semicolon in the name, as if everything there was a sentence not yet finished. The pistachio matcha there is a must-try – super soft, like something you could fall into. It almost feels like your favourite pistachio ice cream went to therapy and healed. Oh, and also, it’s oganic – just putting it here, in case you’re in your “I read ingredient labels now” era.
Matcha might not solve your problems – your toddler will still pull your hair, your boss will still “circle back”; but at least you’ll be navigating chaos with something green, fancy, and full of antioxidants in hand. Yay to that!
