Considering that UAE is an Arab country, many people believe it to be a place that doesn’t value women. In fact, it is the actual opposite. UAE has actually worked very hard to empower women and increase opportunities for them. One-third of UAE’s cabinet are women and two-thirds of government employees are also women. Sheikh Mohammed, Ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has said “We are not enabling women, we are enabling the whole society with women”. Hence to honour the achievements of women, the Women’s Museum in Dubai was built. So here are 5 reasons why you need to visit it:
To summarise, this place is like an archive and documentation centre. It features the lives of Emirati women of all professions, their personal, professional, past and present lives. Numerous photographs on display show the contributions of women from all sectors of life.
It is located in Deira, by the Gold Souq. The name of the place is Bait al Banat which literally translates to The Girls House. So if you are done exploring the museum, you can explore Dubai Creek (enjoy the collection of shops and stalls) as well.
The gift shop of this place is the home to the Um Al Duwais Perfume and Gift Shop. Here you can purchase high quality and authentic Arab fragrances.
The history of Arab women is just one thing you will see here, other than that this place is famous for many other things. It hosts a lot of school children and educates youngsters on the achievements and lives of women.
An entry ticket of AED 20 and a time of about 60 to 90 minutes is all you need to explore this beautiful and motivating place!
